Castagneto Carducci

On the neighboring hills there are many small and characteristic medieval villages, from which admire a fascinating view of the sea and of the Tuscan countryside. Examples are Guardistallo, Casale Marittimo and Castagneto Carducci; this last is the hometown of the famous poet Carducci, who describes in one of his works the “Viale dei Cipressi” that leads straight to Bolgheri.


Bolgheri, just 12 km from Cecina, is famous, not only for its amazing landscape but above all for the high quality red wine produced by many renowned companies that export all over the world; over all “Michele Satta” and “Novelire Azienda Agricola”, whiches offer vineyard guided tours and wine tastings.


Livorno is one of the most important tourist and commercial port of Italy. Before entering, you usually pass through the “Romito”, a strecht of cliff coast overlooking the sea, recomended for breathtaking views and trasparent water. Immediately after, there are the “Aquarium” and the “Terrazza Mascagni”. In the center you can find many folkloristic events like “Venice effect” where the streets are animated by stalls, shows and cultural events.


Immersed in the Tuscan hills, just 30 km from Cecina, there is the Historic city of Volterra, famous for the extraction of alabaster, for its ancient center of Etruscan origins and for the perfectly preserved ruins of a Roman theatre.


Siena is a city universally known for its artistic and landscape heritage. Infact the historical center, easy walkable on foot, is rich of monuments , churces and squares. The most important is “Piazza del Campo”, where every summer takes place the folkloristic horse race between neighborhoods called “Palio di Siena”.

Both by rail and by car, 45 km far away, you can easily reach Pisa. A Reccomanded step is the visit at “Piazza dei Miracoli”, annovered Unesco heritage since 1987, where you can admire the Pendent Tower, the Battistery and the Cathedral. Very famous is also the “Luminara of San Ranieri”, Patron Saint Day, which each year in mid-June, suggestevily lights up the along Arno, making the city magical. Pisa is a universitary city full of life, tourists and itineraries that can be walked across by foot inside the historical center, like “Corso Italia”, which passes through many churches and squares of rare beauty.


Firenze, World Heritage Site since 1982, symbol of the cultural and scientific renaissance, is recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, both for the high concentration of masterpieces, monuments and museums and both for being the hometown of illustrious characters that have marked the history of Italy. Easy to reach by train or by car, it remains 75 km away from Cecina.


Another Tuscan site with a very fascinating historical center is Lucca: ancient Roman city, built by merchants and weavers, famous for its monuments and for its still intact city walls. Specially during the summer time, the city offers many cultural and artistic events, first of all the live concerts is the “Lucca summer Festival” with world famous musicians.
